At TCS, play is how children wonder, test ideas, revise their thinking, and build deep understanding. Our classrooms are intentionally designed to invite curiosity and agency, so learning feels both purposeful and joyful.
Students develop strong knowledge and skills through inquiry and lessons. As their understanding deepens, students apply critical thinking to independent exploration. When appropriate, we extend learning into Austin to connect our studies to the history, environment, and systems of the community around us.
Where play is serious work.
Learning feels like a truly collaborative and empowering experience.

Joyful, Guided, Research-Informed, Intentional
At TCS, joy is not accidental. When students are challenged thoughtfully, guided intentionally, and given space to think deeply, learning becomes energizing. Our classrooms are structured to build confidence — and confidence fuels joy.
Our educators collaborate closely to ensure literacy, mathematics, inquiry, and reflection reinforce one another throughout the day. We do not follow a script. We do not leave learning to chance.
Instruction is intentionally balanced. At times, students build skills explicitly. At other times, they synthesize information and form their own conjectures — deepening understanding and strengthening retention.
Learning at TCS is cohesive. Skills developed in literacy and mathematics are reinforced through inquiry, discussion, and real-world application. Our educators collaborate closely to ensure the school day works as a whole — not as isolated blocks.
